Each fall the Department holds an open house for those interested in learning more about the program of study offered.
During the Open House tours are given through the studios, the labs, and classrooms. The TV studio is up and running and attendees can see how they would look behind an anchor desk or in front of a blue screen. On the sound stage cameras are demonstrated and equipment explained. Samples of edited material and editing techniques are revealed in the post-production lab. The equipment area is also open and cameras and other materials are on display.
Interested visitors can speak with academic advisors who are available to answer questions and make suggestions regarding enrollment.
In addition to obtaining information and getting advice, the Open House also presents samples of student work, which are presented on a large screen, student entertainers are on hand, and there is a buffet to enjoy while you take a look at the area and the equipment.
Showcase Festival
Each spring student productions and screenplays are showcased in MP/TV’s Film and Video Showcase Festival. Entry, open to all MP/TV students, are juried by industry professionals. First place trophies and finalists certificates are awarded in 22 areas at the awards ceremony.
Hundreds of people attend this popular event which is usually held at a local theater so students get the opportunity to see their work projected on a large screen. The MP/TV faculty scholarship award of $500 is also presented at the festivities as well as the Best of Show and Audience Choice Awards.
